SOME IRVING NEWS AND A FINAL GIVEAWAY!

Posted on December 5, 2018

I want to cover several topics this time out, so buckle up.

I finished the first draft of the fourth and final book in the Irving Wishbutton series on December 4th. I'm giving blog readers a peek at the back cover summary and the Author's Note. The novel is scheduled for release on January 30th, 2019. I'm very excited about this project and will likely do another author interview right before the book drops. I'm also including a giveaway in this post, too.

Back Cover Synopsis for Irving Wishbutton and Domain of Sagas

Dean Harmstrike is fed up with supervising the characters that attend the Questing Academy and will stop at nothing to invade the real world. Irving and his eclectic classmates, along with a very special stranger, risk it all to stop him.

Harmstrike expels Irving to the mysterious Domain of Sagas where Irving must inhabit the title role in three quests. He can't lose himself in the heroic characters he's hijacked as he barrels through the epic adventures, beating back the madness and searching for his true cast amid the narrative archetypes so they can all escape.
Can Irving escape his storybook prisons and defeat the dean once and for all?

The Domain of Sagas is the fourth and final volume in the Irving Wishbutton fantasy series.

Author's Note From Irving 4
Irving's saga is finally done. And I'm so excited to have reached this point.

To be honest, I thought his story would remain unfinished. After the second book, I grew intimidated with delivering the back half of the series. I held off on the project for a few years, penning many other books before returning to Irving.

And I'm so glad I did. It's almost as if I needed the time away to make myself the writer that would be required to tell the rest of this ambitious tale.

If you'll entertain me, I'd like to dissect what Irving meant to me and just how the story became so fully realized.

When I wrote the first book, I knew it was special. It allowed me to share my writing ups and down alongside telling Irving's story at the academy. I introduced a huge cast that was fun to tinker with. The second book, The Revision Ravine, focused mostly on Roon and Irving. That gave me free rein to hone in on those characters and place them in a new setting that was wild and exotic. When Irving and company returned to the academy grounds in The Tomb of Tomes, it felt like the school was electric and untamed all over again. New characters were introduced, old favorites were put through changes, and the inclusion of Dungeon Runs ramped up the action.

In this fourth book, I hope readers can see the big picture to Irving's existence and my take on how stories progress when your characters become so real that they write themselves. Being able to plop Irving down into three unique narratives in the Domain of Sagas forced me to find his character even more and helped him grow in wonderfully weird ways. I honestly think there is no other character in literature that evolves in the way that Irving does in this series.

I didn't set out to pen an overly ambitious story. I wanted to write an engaging piece of metafiction that worked on numerous levels. I had no idea that Irving would take me even deeper into the creative process and help me reflect about fate and intervention. Truly, I wound up telling a meta-metafiction saga.

Thank you for coming along for the ride. Irving's story is done, but there's nothing holding me back from taking any of his cast and penning their stories.

Just not Sarya. I couldn't live with myself if I was the one to take her away from Irving.

But Gared and Vincent? Roon and Marcus? Valiant Forge? Even Hector, Kanu, or Conrad? They're all fair game. Heck, even Cocoon Boy might finally graduate to a quest of his own. I guarantee you that one would be transformative!
