YEAR OF WISHBUTTON: REDESIGNING BOOK COVERS FOR A SERIES

Posted on August 4, 2018

I am so happy to debut the new look for the Irving Wishbutton series. Thanks to the savvy design talent of Keith Robinson, the new look is absolutely stellar.

Here they are with one final design tweak. I love the whimsy of the red button. Plus, it unifies the series even more.

Keith has been diving deep into what makes a cover work, and I think these are shining examples proving he knows his stuff.

The cover to book one features a more age-appropriate Irving than the original, and the building is a wonderful rendition of Smudge Hall.

Book two's cover features a purge bird. These fantastical beasts dwell at the edge of Revision Ravine, their magical abilities quite dangerous to those who wish to hold onto their identities. The splash of red is just perfect on their crests.

Book three is quite a ghostly shot of a book. To say it looks like the tome has passed on to the afterlife is an understatement. That book looks quite hauntingly deceased.

Here are the original covers. They are charming but just don't create a sense of intrigue like these new ones. Great work, Keith!
