BREAKING NEW GROUND WITH NED FIREBREAK
Posted on July 13, 2012
Had to share that I got done 10,000 words with Ned this week. Looks like I'll be able to pull off another 10,000 next week. If I can do 20,000 during the first nine weeks back in school and another 20,000 during my October track out, it will be a breeze to finish the book in November and December.
The chapters are coming together well. Ned's interactions with the princesses and his aunt are ripe and whip smart. And he's facing some very refined maidens well versed in the conversational and conspirational arts. Not bad for a dragonslayer who's been in a coma for nearly a year. The back and forth among the cast is some of the best character interplay I've undertaken. And the joyfulness of the humor in the narrative is giving me a huge creative jolt.
Now those of you who've read IRVING WISHBUTTON, you've already gotten to meet our young dragon slayer, his Aunt Nance and the thorn at his side, the ice princess Stacia. They are characters attending the questing academy at the same time Irving is. Their story there is just a taste of what they can do in their own storyline.
I'm going to ask sliced bread to move over and make room for the next big thing – Ned Firebreak. He's a new kind of dragonslayer. To find out why, you'll just have to stay tuned.
