GETTING GEARED UP TO GET EXPLODEY WITH THE WRITING
Posted on December 29, 2016
Okay, got a nice 16-day stretch of writing ahead of me. Today is a critical day for The Powers That Flee. I have to really find the climax. I need to retool my last chapter as I sent the characters off in a direction that contradicts something from earlier. I can't have that. Today will be spent fixing my plot wanderings, which will likely mean losing a whole chapter. This should get the story back on track and help build proper momentum so that the book will be finished by next Friday.
This morning, I crafted the back cover summary. I wanted to keep it simple and not give away too much. Here's my first go at it:
It's October 1985, and fifteen-year-old comic book nerd, Darin Forrester is given a special arcade token by a mysterious cute stranger. He soon finds himself granted super powers with a limiting catch – they don't stick around. With a revolving door of abilities, he must fight off a strange invasion and save his parents before his powers flee for good.
Brian Clopper delivers a sincere trip back to the eighties where the hair was big, the music videos reigned supreme, comics were a club for the social outcast, and young science fiction geeks went all atingle at the newest issue of Starlog.
I also ordered some mirrored aviator sunglasses from Amazon so i can use them for the cover. Expect that design to debut by the end of the month.
Really excited to pour it on and finish this new book strong.
