DIGGING ZOMBIES PART 5: TAKING LIBERTIES
Posted on April 12, 2014
Using Google Earth is great! I can mention actual landmarks, look at the terrain, and get inspired for scenes.
But I've already had to deviate from reality in small ways. So readers who love to factcheck locales, please know that Overwhelmed takes place in an alternate reality North Carolina.
How is this North Carolina different than ours?
Well, the airfield they come across in the book has a gravel parking lot while the one in our world is paved. Why make such a small change, you ask? Because, its far more dramatic to tear out of a parking lot and leave a cloud of dust behind for the zombies to choke on.
I'm sure I will have to deviate more as the story progresses. Just know I will do so only if it adds to the story. In this case, gravel matters.
