INITIAL DESIGN WORK ON ALL FOUR ARCANA CREEK COVERS
Posted on June 8, 2019
For the past four weeks, I've been tracked out. I was able to work on Arcana Creek for 19 days. Here's how I managed the creative workload:
– Act One: 23,491 words (not counting Author's Note) – completed in six days
– Act Two: 20,334 words (not counting Author's Note) – completed in five days
– Act Three: 27,389 words (counting the Author's Note) – completed in eight days
That's 71,214 words in four weeks.
I've never written that fast before. I think this book came together so quickly because my outlines were strong and the cast was small. It's a very personal tale that takes my distant relationship with my own late grandmother and reshapes it to what I wish it could've been if we'd had a talking fox, a dryad, a troll, and a naiad to draw us closer.
The story is intense, dark, warm, and ultimately tells a tale where family is the most powerful magic. I'm eager to work through the next few stages. The plan is to release each act over three months in the Fall and then do the collected volume at the end of the year. The short reads versions will be available only as an e-book on Amazon so I can list it with Kindle Unlimited. The collected version will be available on all e-book platforms and also have a snazzy print edition.
Here's a bigger look at the collected edition's cover:
