RESEARCHING A CHAPTER: PART THREE

Posted on April 4, 2013

Here's another eclectic gaggle of research topics for the next chapter of Burnt:

What do bats eat?
– Because the diet of flying rodents can and will be a punchline.

Is frugivore a for reals science term?
– Huh, my research with what bats like to gnosh on turned up this term. Had to check to see if it was a real term. It is.

The name of garage doors in a warehouse or grocery store?
– You'd think I'd recall this from my formative years unloading produce trucks at a grocery store. I went with Loading Dock Doors.

What color is formaldehyde?
– Drats, it's colorless. Really wanted it to be amber. Heck, maybe the jars themselves could be colored glass.

Spelling of doozy?
– Spellcheck doesn't like my penchant for rowdy, clever vocabulary. Shame on you Microsoft for such a narrow focus with word usage. You're no fun. Turns out I spelled it correctly.

Hey, Mr. Clopper!

You may or may not remember me, I was a student of yours at Deer Crossing Elementary back in '98-'99. It's great to see you're writing! I'll have to check out some of the books as I always did admire your use of vocabulary and figurative language.

What I was wondering is where on God's green earth would I be able to find your comics these days???? I found Bombastic #3 on Amazon, but that's it. And I'd really like to get a hold of more of those and especially the Wingnut and Fidget one shot from 2005!

Get in touch when you have a chance, it'd be great to hear from you!

I do remember you. Awesome to hear from you. I enjoyed your email detailing the degree you are pursuing and what's up. I do have copies of Bombastic 2-5 and the one-shot you mentioned. I'll send details on how to order them in an email.

Thanks for contacting me. It is so much fun hearing what former students are up to. It's also scary to think 15 years can go by so quickly.
