NORTH DAKOTA IS ABOUT TO BE INVADED
Posted on January 11, 2016
The setting for We Kill Humans is North Dakota, just outside of Bismarck. I sent away for tourist info and pamphlets to help me get a better feel for the area along with the research I've done online. I didn't want to use North Carolina again as I'd selected that locale for my Turncoats series simply because I live there and knew the area. This time, I'm taking on a bigger challenge and centering a story in a state I've never visited.
I wanted to focus on a state with a smaller population and one where folks are more spread out. Places like New York City and Los Angeles would fall too quickly with the alien invasion unfolding in We Kill Humans. So, the fate of the world falls on the shoulders of two teens from Bismarck.
I'm pretty sure Maggie and Heath can handle it. They're made of stern stuff.
When I think of how to describe this series I think of Red Dawn meets Independence Day with a dash of Fractured (a series I wrote with Keith Robinson).
I'm in the home stretch with less than 10,000 words to go in the first book. Hoping to finish it by the end of the week.
If anyone is from the Bismarck area and would like to beta read the book and give suggestions, I'd really love to utilize your expertise. Drop me an email.
