SPRING READING RECOMMENDATIONS

Might I suggest loading up your Kindle with these imaginative reads by yours truly?

The Graham the Gargoyle series
This series is very special to me as it was the first book I ever tackled. The delight in this series is the deliberate way Graham and his cast grow so much through the course of the three volumes. The first is about Graham in his village and deals with bullies, loss, and first challenges. The second expands Graham's world view, and readers get to see the neighboring troll village and the surrounding woods. The threat is someone alluded to in book one. The chapters are told from Graham's perspective as well as his little sister Flenn's POV. The inclusion of a harpy that challenges what the reader believes of the foul bird creatures is also something I'm proud of. The Widow Stemmel's scenes with the blossom possums are some of my favorites. The third book relocates our gang to the bustling city of New Asgard and a very unique school. Blord really defines himself as more than just a bully in this book. And the POV grow to three, with chapters showing the action through the eyes of Graham, Ot, and Flenn. I guarantee readers will fall in love with this brave gargoyle and his friends. And who can say no to appearances by the Flying Mummy?

The Irving Wishbutton series
This four-book adventure is high-octane imagination. Seriously, the fourth volume was just praised by fantasy novelist, Piers Anthony, for the impressive scope of the project's imaginative ideas. These are characters near and dear to me. The series will give readers insights into how a story is crafted via the story happening at the academy as well as the author entries detailing the writer toiling on his novel. This is the one I think will make me a household name. All four volumes are available as e-books right now and the first two are in print format with the last two coming in the weeks ahead.

The Powers That Flee
This is my book delving into eighties nerd culture. It's also very personal as I used my experiences as a high schooler to inspire many of the scenes. The bully is based on one who actually harassed me. Former classmates, I staged it at Middletown High. You might recognize quite a few of the supporting cast and locales in the book. Weis Markets, specifically a cereal aisle where the product mascots take on a life of their own, is a standout scene. Although, I love when the otter pops come to life as well. It's really hard to choose which scene is the best. The evolving romance between the two leads is a strength of the book that fans of John Hughes and Some Kind of Wonderful might appreciate.

Do yourself a favor and snag a few of these books. You won't be disappointed.
