EMERY FOGG GROWS IN SCOPE!
Posted on November 22, 2020
I was shooting the breeze with a fellow writer I greatly respect, and we both fretted over how our novels are almost too expansive, with most falling between 70,000-95,000 words. We also considered how the trend is to produce shorter novels for the middle-grade crowd. He's taking on the challenge of writing a series where each book is more compact and swift-moving, with each volume hovering around 35,000 words. He encouraged me to try this alongside him, pointing out I could write three books in the time it takes to write one massive tome.
I got to thinking about Emery Fogg and realized she would be perfect. So beginning with my December track-out, I will be writing the first book in the series. Then, I will be embarking on writing two more in the series along with finishing up my Lemon epic. So 2021 should see the Lemon novel published alongside three very compact and targeted books featuring Emery Fogg.
Here are the titles I'm playing with:
Emery Fogg Takes to Magic (Sort Of)
Emery Fogg Conquers the Dragons (Mostly)
Emery Fogg Escapes the Sirens (Pretty Much)
Emery Fogg Defeats the Shadows (Kind Of)
Only the first title is set in stone. The rest will likely evolve. I'm incredibly excited by this and feel it will really draw attention to the series. It's going to be a wild ride. I'll leave you with the cover image for the first book. My hope is to produce the rough cover design for that book over the Thanksgiving break.
