GEARING UP TO WRITE

Posted on November 14, 2018

So I have the next ten days of my track out (I return to my classroom on December 4th) to finish up Irving Wishbutton 4. I'm very excited that this volume brings the series to a close in feisty, widescreen style.

I spent today completing the fourth read-through and taking notes on some character details to prepare myself for the back third of the book.

I finished writing the outline for the last third of the book, which I estimate to be ten chapters long with two very short epilogues. I plan to resume writing tomorrow with 3,000 words and then 4,000 on Friday. I think I can stay under 40,000 to finish the book. Yea! That's good as the first two-thirds clock in at 50,000 words.

Irving Wishbutton and the Domain of Sagas really delves into the concept of stories within stories, a core theme of the series all along. I won't say exactly how, but readers will see Irving thrust into three dazzling and imaginative narratives that are not his own. He must find his way back to the academy to end the threat of Dean Harmstrike once and for all.

To tease readers a little, here are the titles of the sagas he finds himself banished within:

– Kanu of the Blue Hinterlands

– Hector Thimble in the Small Time

– Conrad Wordsmith and the Coat of Arms

When it's all said and done, book four will immerse the reader in not one, but four very realized novel series. I am so excited for how innovative this book is and just how crucial the other narratives are to defining the character that Irving needs to be by the end of the series.

Who knows? All three are deserving of their own spin-off novels. I might have to make one of them a legit read on their own.

On a review and sales front: I'm pleased with the exposure Irving has obtained by having the first book free. I appreciate every new reader, every new subscriber, and every new gleeful review of the series. Thank you so much for trying my work and enjoying it enough to dive into the rest of the Wishbutton series and my many other books.
