TIRE SWINGS, COLLARBONES, AND SWIMMING SNAKES

Posted on April 7, 2015

Nailed it! I just got done writing another childhood memory chapter of Decisive Magic, and it couldn't have unfolded better. I managed to take two events from my childhood, a tire swing and a swimming snake, and mash it up with an appreciation of fine collarbones to create a scene that shows the humanity of Lucas and Renee.

Two things that never happened in real life is that Monica never existed and Renee never came to a family reunion as a guest. The inclusion of both girls is critical, though, as it helps these kids to understand that they are growing and changing, entering the next stage of life whether they want to or not.

I even managed to put in a cameo from one of my favorite childhood fantasy authors. Hope he doesn't mind.

This book is really getting my juices flowing, so much so, I've been able to write 10,000 words in two days.

Great googly-moogly! I might get 90% of this novel written before I have to go back to the classroom.
