MY FIRST SCIENCE FICTION NOVEL IS ALMOST READY FOR PUBLICATION
Posted on March 22, 2020
With a Side of Universal Destruction is almost ready to be released into the wild. I've made all the corrections from my amazing beta readers and just have to do a kindle readthrough for one final sweep. It's been my cleanest book to date and feedback has been very good. I'm eager for readers to dig into this homage to Star Wars and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Fans of Larry Niven and Andre Norton will also enjoy this epic saga.
I will spend the next to weeks with the final readthrough and then publish it as an e-book. My hope is the print version will be available a month after that. A lot depends on Amazon shipping books as they are prioritizing, rightfully so, other more essential supplies at the moment.
Here's the new summary:
Bad luck happens to Will Strooter when he's away from his goldfish. And today he wakes to find his fish belly up.
Now minus his aquatic talisman, he predicts a whirlwind of trouble at the office. Just as expected, a dark cloud of misfortune surrounds him when he finds himself at the center of a confounding glitch and bizarre happenstance that could cause him to lose his job.
His parade of bad luck continues when he barely evades a hit squad in a grocery store parking lot and is rescued in the nick of time.
By aliens.
Will is whisked off into space aboard a clunky freighter, with his former babysitter/no-nonsense intergalactic warrior pilot concerned about a cosmic artifact embedded in Will's puny mortal frame. This is news to him, but it turns out several alien races are convinced the Earthling has an ancient anomaly tucked away in his psyche that, if extracted, could either bring unlimited universal power . . . or end all of time and space.
Strooter does what any hunted human alone in the galaxy would do to survive: he surrounds himself with a ragtag band of misfits and hopes for the best. Along the way, he must avoid destroying a prison planet, escape from a death cult, and do his best not to anger a powerful god whose disciples are sentient asteroids.
Oh, and save all of reality. That goes without saying, of course.
This will be my 28th novel. If you find you're hankering for a new read, please hop over to my website and peruse all the great reads waiting for you. Sales of the Irving Wishbutton series continue to be solid, and it's nice to know readers are taking time to escape from the pressures of this current world with young Wishbutton and his lively cast.
Everyone please take care of yourselves and families in these trying times!
